Adult Individual Therapy
I work with adults of all ages and have extensive experiencing treating Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders, Trauma and ADHD. Beyond symptom management, I also specialize in relationship/career challenges, life transitions and parenting. I have a practical, problem solving and active approach. I listen deeply and create a calm and healing place for clients to explore their internal worlds. My goal is for clients to learn more about themselves both past and present, and to gain clarity about what they need and want for the future. I am trained in Emotionally focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) and Internal Family Systems-Level I (see below). Both of these modalities are non-pathologizing, experiential and transformative. I believe the client-therapist relationship and goodness of fit to be very important and think of us as equal partners in therapy.
Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT)
Attachment is a science of belonging. It speaks to how our primary survival strategy is being wired for emotional connection with valued others. EFIT is grounded first in attachment theory, arguably the most extensively researched science-based theory of personality, growth, and relationships. Attachment theory tells us who we are and gives us a clear map to our deepest human longings, needs, and fears. This attachment map helps the therapist understand where to focus, how to tune in to the client’s world, and how to lead the client through vulnerability to a safe haven of competence and confidence.
With EFIT, I will help you explore your attachment experiences, styles and possible wounds that may improve or inform your current relationship dynamics and increase your overall emotional regulation. Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Internal family systems (IFS) is a form of psychotherapy that considers the mind to be naturally made up of “parts” that take on different roles, such as an inner critic or inner child, and consist of wounded parts and painful feelings like anger and shame. The goal of IFS is to help clients access “Self” so that they can heal wounded parts and bring their minds into balance.
Internal family systems therapy is a non-pathologizing approach to psychotherapy. It emphasizes the natural multiplicity of the mind. The grounding assumption is that there are no bad parts, only parts forced into bad roles. When a client learns how to access Self, they can then heal their wounded parts. This brings the whole system into harmony and allows the person to become more Self-led. The natural side effect of this healing and integration is a reduction in problematic or symptomatic behavior.

Older Teens and Young Adult Therapy
I began my therapy career working in high schools and on college campuses. I have a particular affinity for this age group. I believe therapy is hugely beneficial for teens and young adults as they navigate individuating from parents and developing a sense of self and identity. I am experienced treating Anxiety, Depression (including self-harm and suicidal thoughts), ADHD and Substance Abuse with this population. I also help students navigate accessing accommodations in college for mental health needs and support teens and families in understanding how to navigate their mental health symptoms in an academic environment.
